Welcome to our Little Lilac Life
Located in Central Virginia, Little Lilac Life is owned by mother-daughter duo, Carrie (mom) & Ashley (daughter).
Carrie is the voice behind our blog and social media accounts. She can most often be found wandering in the woods foraging, admiring nature, or hanging out with an animal (or 10).
Ashley is often the one behind the camera. Not only is she a wife and mom, she helps run the family contracting business and Little Lilac.
Together they focus on creating simple products inspired by a love of rural living & nature. They never fail to make each other laugh or cheer each other on.
Why the Name Little Lilac Life?
I spent a large part of my childhood playing outside under a lilac tree. That is where I created my world. It sometimes included racetracks in the mud and epic Star Wars battles. Other times My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake had a village.
As I grew toys were exchanged for books. Many hours spent lost in other times and adventures. Then, notebooks where angsty poetry filled the pages. Dreams of a home tucked in the woods.
The scent of lilacs always brings a flood of memories that means home, hope, and love.

Our Mission
Little Lilac Life’s goal is to provide resources and encouragement to those wanting to embrace the homesteading life. We aim to build community with those already on the homesteading journey and continue to spread the understanding that “homesteader” is a frame of mind. We can all build a more peaceful and sustainable life right where we are.
